Watched this as a double feature with the original The House on Sorority Row (1982) last night! I swear I watched this as a shitty minecraft quality vimeo upload when i was like 12? because so much of this felt familiar. 

The time this was released along with the poster had me judging it before hand as another one of the 2000s soulless & nihilistic slasher remakes that were churned out nonstop. But honestly, this is probably one of the best of them. Some of the humor and dialogue fall into that “every character is awful” trope but it mostly works as a critique on college campuses and greek life especially. 

Similar to the first one, we have a group of sorority sisters hiding a murderous secret as a killer picks them off one by one! But besides some fun nods to the original (Cass’ grabbing Ms. Slaters cane from the original!) it’s completely different. 

this honestly is IKWYDLS (Sorority Edition). And i love that!!!!! I honestly thought Sorority Row gave me more of what i wanted from IKWYDLS (2025) last year. The killer is literally the fisherman with a tire iron and i am not complaining. And since this story follows a secret that’s been under wraps for much longer than the originals one day, it really does feel much more akin to the IKWYDLS franchise. And i love that for it! 

The kills are gnarly but also well shot and executed with great gore and chase scenes. The killer spinning his tire iron did something for me!!!!!! whew! 

also Jessica you are the ultimate cuntress. that is mother idc!!!! She better be in this legacy sequel. they did her so dirty!!! she is such a well written mean girl, giving total delusional Chanel Oberlin vibes! This film and the original have been making me miss Scream Queens!  

Definitely my favorite recent sorority slasher. i love it equally to the original and definitely like it more than the Black Christmas (2006) remake which i also adore!
